Here's a brief description of the training:
To increase the survivability of victims in an active shooter event, civilians must have pre-planned response options they can easily remember and initiate under extreme stress. For the purposes of this presentation and discussion, we will consider an active shooter as “attempted mass murder” with a firearm. The goal of this course is to provide law enforcement professionals with a model presentation using the Avoid, Deny, Defend response model for civilians in their communities. The expectation is that participants will return to their own community and share this information. By providing a model response framework, civilians can retain and then recall under stress, lives can be saved, and casualties from active shooter events mitigated.
